A district attorney becomes concerned when his wife starts acting secretive and he suspects she has had an abortion. He investigates further and discovers that his wife has been tricked by a doctor into believing she was infertile. The district attorney takes the doctor to court, where the truth is revealed and his wife realizes the devastation of her decision. This film explores themes of abortion, birth control, and the societal pressures faced by women in the early 20th century.

Spurred on by her young actor friend Pascal, Cricket, a young girl, accepts the starring role in a juvenile play. Her smashing success is overshadowed, however, by the death of her mother.
