Hungary, 1944 - The main character is an old shepherd, who lives alone on a ranch. After his daughter got killed by Nazis, he decided in his grief to save as many Jewish lives as possible.

In a small village, a terrible epidemic is decimating the people. Desperate men, in the absence of a priest, try to end the horrors with their own methods. They believe that the cause of all troubles is a demon called Csóré. One day a stranger arrives in the village.

Late at night, Istvan becomes the only witness to an accident on the road, but an influential person wants to make him forget what he saw. Will he be able to protect himself and his own family and at the same time remain human?
