A struggling writer in London starts following strangers for inspiration and meets a thief named Cobb. They embark on a series of burglaries, with Cobb teaching the writer the thrill of violation. However, as the writer falls for a woman involved in dangerous affairs, he discovers the elaborate manipulation orchestrated by Cobb. When the writer decides to turn himself in, he becomes framed for a murder committed by Cobb, while Cobb himself disappears.
