In the narrow-minded and prejudiced Sicily of 1982, two teenagers, Gianni and Nino, navigate a troubled relationship and face bullying due to Gianni's homosexuality. Their lives change when they meet and develop a profound bond, which eventually turns into love. As their families discover their relationship, they face violent consequences in a conservative society. Despite being forcibly separated, they remain determined to defy the odds and believe that their love can conquer anything.
