Summer 1949: end of the civil war in Greece. The last band of guerrillas of the Democratic Army is forced to abandon Mount Taygetus and to head for the sea. Everything behind them has collapsed and they can count on help from no one. In this long, desperate and aimless march, the group will end up by being annihilated by the National Army and the armed villagers.

A college student seeks to set things traight with his mother, that abandonned him as a child as she fled with his uncle to America.

Cyprus, 1940s. A couple, outlaws and hunted, arrive at a secluded mill house. The man leaves the distraught woman in the hands of the miller and runs off. As the young woman is cared for by the miller, love and affection grows between them. Their tranquillity is violently disrupted when her husband and those who are after show up at the mill house.

In 1926, Ada and Ignacy go to Cairo and open a perfume shop.
