Hand Rolled Cigarette follows the story of a young man who is an ex-soldier. He gets pulled into the criminal underworld where he becomes involved in the high-stakes world of cigarette smuggling. As he navigates through this dangerous environment, he must confront his past and make difficult choices that will determine his future.
Towards the end of their summer holiday, a group of high school students’ peaceful lives are disrupted. Someone named “Admin” adds them to a chat group and forces them to play a killing game. Before they find and remove “the target”, whose identity is unknown, anyone in the chat group who does not reply to other members’ messages will die instantly. Panic strikes as students in the class suddenly die one by one. The place where they should enjoy their youth is turned into a scene of carnage.
Pak-kiu works as a gaffer while waiting for his first break in front of the camera. An inviting target of ridicule, he remains unwavering that he will rise above the sordid realities of the glamorous world of film-making with his determination to be a proper actor rather than a star. So when he is offered a bit part as a cancer patient in a new film, he jumps at the chance to practise method acting, literally getting into his character and inhabiting him through claiming membership of a support group, which reunites him with an old classmate. However, the reunion, shrouded in a façade of altruistic motive, leaves him ill-prepared for a role in real life that is not so easily dismissed as a character in the script...
