A White, White Day is a drama thriller about a retired police officer named Ingimundur who is grieving the death of his wife. As he discovers evidence suggesting that his wife had an affair, he becomes obsessed with seeking revenge on her lover. The film explores themes of grief, anger, and the lengths one will go to in order to find closure.

Regína is 10 years old. Her mother, Margrét, works at a home for the elderly and her father is dead. The story begins one sunny summer morning when kids are leaving for the summer camp and Regína has been told she cannot go. While alone at home killing time she discovers her gift, which is hypnotizing singing. Her friend Pétur shows his talent for finding words that rhyme and together they increase the power of singing.

Maria is somewhat of a rebel and problem child. Her mother died and her father remarried some awful lady, and Maria isn't happy at all. She takes a drug overdose and winds up in a home for other girls with problems, but the two women who run the place turn out to be not quite the ladies they seemed. Maria knows she can't stay there very long, and starts planning her escape.
