A historical drama based on the true events of World War II, Amen. follows the efforts of a German officer and a Jesuit priest to expose the atrocities being committed by the Nazi regime, including the genocide of Jews in concentration camps like Auschwitz and Treblinka.

Between 1949 and 1975 more than 800 000 German orphans have lived their post-war years in Church Institutions. They have endured terrible abuses. Everyone knew but no one spoke. In 2012 the Church admitted her wrongdoings. The movie tells the story of a German woman (Senta Berger) living in New York coming back to Germany to bear witness in front of a board of enquiry. During her stay she remembers her traumatic experience.

Anabel (Lisa Martinek) apparently has everything a woman could want: a well-paid husband Dirk (Tim Bergmann), a nice apartment, good friends and an antique shop to keep her busy. The only thing missing is a child, but she can't have one because she accidentally finds out that her husband is sterile. She keeps her husband in the dark about her discovery of his shortcoming, who on the contrary assumes Anabel is incapable of conceiving. One day her pragmatic friend Lissi (Antje Schmidt) comes up with the idea that Anabel could get impregnated by another man and lie to her husband about the paternity of the child.

The married lawyer Nikolas Merz has a relationship with the Turkish Meryem, who works in his office as a cleaning lady. One day he leaves his wife Lilith for Meryem. But she is afraid that her husband Rohad would kidnap their son Baran to Turkey in the case and does not want to leave him. After Rohad has come behind the affair and threatens Nikolas, she leaves him. When Meryem miscarries and has to go to the hospital, she does not reach Nikolas and calls Rohad for help. So both men meet each other in the clinic. On the way back Rohad stops, pulls Nikolas out of the car and hits him to the ground. Nikolas then kills Rohad with a stone he picked up from the ground. A doctor is raped by two of her colleagues. In the trial, the tide initially turns against her when the video recording of the crime disappears and her turbulent love life is revealed.

Christine Wagner is raped by a burglar in her house while her husband Stefan is on a business trip. When she later wants to report the break-in and the sexual assault to the police, her descriptions are believed to be implausible. The officer in charge considers her representations to be exaggerated and made up and decides not to deal with this case any further. Christine is frustrated by this and suppresses what has happened.

A police psychologist saves a young woman from jumping to her death and takes the unstable stranger into her family. She soon becomes jealous of her benefactor's happy marriage and tries to seduce her husband. When the rescuer surprises them both in an apparently explicit situation, she and her friend leave the home in a hurry. She suffers a car accident in which her friend dies and she herself falls into a coma. A time of hope and waiting begins for the man.
