Ali Shirazi became interested in filmmaking at the age of 17 and started to create experimental works by writing film scripts and directing short films. By the age of 20, he began studying film directing at the college, where he became involved in the production of one of his most famous works up to that point. In 2012, he began creating an online video essay series on Vimeo, focusing on the directing styles of American filmmakers such as Martin Scorsese, Quentin Tarantino, and Paul Thomas Anderson. The video series garnered widespread acclaim and was featured on numerous notable online film and entertainment magazines such as IndieWire, Entertainment Weekly, NoFilmSchool, Gizmodo, among many others. These videos gained over 350 thousand viewers worldwide. At the end of 2014, he started working on his first short fiction film "The Television" as director and finally completed the film in March 2015. It was selected as part of the Short Film Corner at the Cannes Film Festival in 2015.
