An Italian boy dreams of becoming a bullfighter. In the sunny Andalusian pasture, a calf is born destined to be a fighting bull. Humans and animals grow up in totally different worlds, but their lives reflect each other. Only in the end will they meet.
In a small town in Italy, a boy, Matteo, lives surrounded by coffins and illness. Faced with this daily nonsense, he dreams of dying like a hero in the ring. Thousands of kilometres away, a calf, Fandango, grows up ignoring the purpose for which it was born: to become a fighting bull and fight to death in front of thousands of people.
Not far from Madrid there is the Valle de los Caidos, a memorial conceived by dictator Francisco Franco in the Fifties. This site is still today the symbol of an unresolved conflict within Spanish society. Under the cross lie 35,000 victims of the Spanish Civil War.
