A documentary portrait of Aleksander Zelwerowicz, the master of the Polish scene, created on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of his artistic career. He played over 800 roles, the directors of the film chose his three masterpieces: a theater one, a film one, and a radio one.

Two children are born in a rich family's manor house - one of them, Gogo, is a son of a countess and the second one, Maciek, a son of the servant. The servant decides to switch the babies so her son can have a better life. They both grow up and fall for the same woman, a girl named Kasia raised by the countess.

Bielecki (Gregori Chmara) becomes determined to become a famous writer, but the means he employs in achieving his goal are far from ethical. Bielecki discourages his friend Jerzy Gorski (Artur Socha) by telling him his new work is rather poor, driving him into despair. But Bielecki is such a good friend that he even provides Gorski with the morphine so he can overdose too. With Gorski out of the way, Bielecki can now peddle his friend's book as his own. However, it doesn't take long for Bielecki's evil ways to catch up to him.
