When a young Inuit hunter named Kenai needlessly kills a bear, he is magically transformed into a bear himself as punishment. Now a bear, Kenai must navigate the wilderness and find a way to reverse the spell. Along the way, he meets Koda, a chatty bear cub who becomes his guide and companion. Together, they embark on a journey to the Northern Lights, where Kenai hopes to find a way to become human again. However, as Kenai spends time as a bear and learns to see the world through Koda's eyes, he begins to question his original belief that bears are monsters.
