A dark force threatens Alpha, a vast metropolis and home to species from a thousand planets. Special operatives Valerian and Laureline must race to identify the marauding menace and safeguard not just Alpha, but the future of the universe. In the 28th century, the former International Space Station has become 'Alpha', a city where millions of creatures from different planets live peacefully and exchange knowledge and cultures. Valerian and Laureline, two police officers, are sent on a mission to retrieve a 'Mül converter', the last one in the universe. Along the way, they encounter political intrigue, alien abduction, and a hidden truth about the destruction of a peaceful civilization. As they uncover the secrets of Alpha, Valerian and Laureline must confront their own feelings and make sacrifices for the greater good.
