Dr. Will Caster, a scientist researching artificial intelligence, has his consciousness uploaded into a computer after being shot by an anti-technology terrorist group. In his digital form, he gains vast capabilities and creates a technological utopia, but his motives become questionable when he starts controlling people's minds. The government and terrorists try to stop him, leading to a battle to delete his source code. Will's wife, Evelyn, sacrifices herself to upload a virus that ultimately destroys both of them. Five years later, it is revealed that some of Will's nano-particles have survived, potentially saving him and Evelyn.
