The Public Enemy (1931)

The Public Enemy follows the rise and fall of Tom Powers and his best friend Matt Doyle, as they work their way up the ranks of the Chicago gangster underworld. Fueled by prohibition-era bootlegging and violence, Tom becomes a powerful crime boss. However, the consequences of his criminal lifestyle and the ruthless world he inhabits eventually catch up with him, leading to tragic consequences.
