A married couple's life is turned upside down when the wife is accused of a murder. After three years, the husband, John, plans to break her out of jail and flee the country. He researches prison life and escape methods, meets with an ex-con for advice, and starts making preparations. John buys fake IDs and a gun, while also forging medical documents to prove Lara's innocence. He robs a drug dealer to get money and sets their house on fire to fake their deaths. With a plan in motion, John breaks Lara out of the hospital, and they go on the run with their son Luke, eventually escaping to Venezuela.
