Inspired by an epic Chinese tale, translated into an action-packed comedy, a Monkey and his magical fighting Stick battle demons, dragons, gods, and the greatest adversary of all - Monkey's ego. Monkey is born from a stone and disturbs the Jade Emperor. He is banished but trains to fight demons to prove his worth. With a magical staff, Monkey defeats demons and becomes King of the Monkeys. He then sets out to kill 100 demons to gain entry into Heaven. Along the way, Monkey encounters the Red Girl, the Dragon King, and King Yama. Monkey learns about immortality and gains full immortality by consuming an elixir. Monkey is tempted by power and attacks Heaven, leading to his imprisonment. Five hundred years later, Monkey is freed and joins a monk, pig, and river spirit on a journey to the West.
