The Man Who Wasn't There (2001)

In 1949 Santa Rosa, California, a chain-smoking barber named Ed Crane wants to escape a mundane life. He blackmails his wife's boss and lover, Big Dave, for money to invest in dry cleaning. However, his plan goes terribly wrong, leading to suspected adultery, foul play, death, racial slurs, and a series of unexpected events. With the introduction of aliens and Heisenberg's uncertainty principle, Ed's opportunity to be more than an unnoticed man takes a dramatic turn. Will he succeed or further descend into chaos?
