Nic and Jules, a lesbian couple, have children conceived by artificial insemination. When their younger child, Laser, wants to meet their biological father, Joni arranges a meeting with Paul. As Paul becomes more involved in their lives, tensions rise within the family. Jules starts an affair with Paul, causing further strain. However, through forgiveness and understanding, the family learns to come together and embrace their unique dynamics.
