The Count of Monte Cristo (2002)

In the aftermath of Napoleonic rule, Edmond Dantes is imprisoned by his friend Fernand, who also reads a letter containing treasonous information. After years in prison, Edmond befriends a fellow prisoner and learns of a hidden treasure. Escaping, he reinvents himself as the Count of Monte Cristo and plots his revenge against Fernand, Mercedes, Danglars, and Villefort. As he sets them up for failure, he discovers the true meaning of redemption and chooses a life of family and God.
