Architect Steven Kovacs moves into an apartment after a failed marriage proposal. He bribes cable installer Chip Douglas into giving him free movie channels. Chip proves to be intrusive, crashing a basketball game, leaving multiple messages, and secretly installing an expensive home theater system. After a series of vengeful acts by Chip, Steven is fired from his job and his relationship with him ends. Chip holds Steven's girlfriend Robin hostage, but Steven is able to save her and battles Chip. Chip survives but is taken away by the police.
