Sonatine follows Murakawa, a yakuza boss, and his gang as they are forced into hiding at a remote seaside village after a botched mission. The tranquility of the village slowly turns into a battleground as rival gangsters close in on them. As tensions rise, Murakawa must navigate the dangers of the underworld and confront his own existential loneliness.
