Robin impersonates Sir Robert Loxley to prevent the family lands from being taken by the crown and falls in love with Loxley's widow, Lady Marian. They join forces with the northern barons to demand the signing of a charter of liberties and eventually lead an English army to victory against a French invasion. The legend of Robin Hood and the Merry Men of Sherwood Forest begins.
