In a dead-end job in New Jersey, an aspiring female rapper named Patricia, also known as Patti Cake$, dreams of making it big in the music industry. Despite facing challenges such as a difficult relationship with her mother, a widow struggling to make ends meet, and the judgment of others due to her weight, Patti perseveres and forms a friendship with a musician named Jheri. Together, they navigate the music scene and work towards achieving their dreams.
