Lifted (2010)

In 'Lifted,' a 13-year-old boy named Henry lives with his mother after the death of his father, who was killed in the war in Afghanistan. Henry, who dreams of becoming a singing superstar, faces bullies at school and finds solace in his grandfather. To honor his father's memory, Henry enters a singing competition and impresses the judges with his talent. Along the way, he deals with the challenges of being a military reservist, his mother's drug addiction, and the support of his community.
