In 1980s Dublin, a teenage boy named Neil becomes envious of his school friend Ivan who forms a successful rock band and becomes a famous rock star. Neil and his brother form their own band but struggle to find success, constantly living in the shadow of Ivan and his band. As the years go by, Neil's resentment grows and he becomes obsessed with trying to outdo Ivan and his band, leading to humorous and dramatic situations.
