When Tracy wins a role on the show, she becomes a celebrity overnight. However, Tracy's emergence as a star threatens the reigning dance queen, Amber Von Tussle, and her domineering mother, Velma. With the help of her friend Seaweed, Tracy fights for racial integration on the show while pursuing her own dreams of stardom.
