In medieval times, a mad monk named Guru seeks revenge and power. He uses his assistant Igor to help him concoct a magical potion that grants him supernatural abilities. Guru murders the chaplain of a neglected estate and blackmails the hunchback caretaker to do his bidding. As he becomes more powerful, Guru's greed and blood lust lead to his downfall. Along the way, he encounters love, deception, witchcraft, and grave-robbing. The movie explores themes of schizophrenia, lesbianism, and the horrors of medieval life.
