Kit's estranged mother and her new husband decide to send her away to the isolated school in the hopes of straightening out her rebellious behavior. Upon arrival, Kit meets the school's enigmatic headmistress, Madame Duret, who reveals that the school specializes in nurturing the talents of its students. As Kit settles into her new surroundings, she begins to experience strange occurrences, including hearing voices and seeing visions. With the help of her new friends, Kit uncovers the dark secret of Blackwood and must find a way to escape before it's too late.
