In Dirty Hearts, a Japanese assassin uncovers a shocking truth while investigating a hidden plot. As he delves deeper, he discovers a burning photograph that leads him to a web of lies, fake photos, and brainwashing. Betrayal and a code of honor are at the center of this story, as the protagonist faces death, bloodshed, violence, and murder. Assassinations are carried out with swords, drawing the attention of a colonel and a radio broadcast. A school, a photographer, and a year of 1945 all play important roles. The film also explores the experiences of Japanese-Brazilians, Japanese immigrants, and is told through flashbacks, with an underlying husband-wife relationship and the innocence of a little girl.
