In the backdrop of the Singareni coal mines, Dharani, a young coal thief, sacrifices his love for his best friend Suri. When Suri is brutally killed, Dharani seeks vengeance against the man responsible, Chinna Nambi. He marries Vennela, whom Chinna Nambi lusts after, and protects her from him. On the day of Dasara, Dharani kills Chinna Nambi in front of the entire village and returns years later to save the villagers from the ruin caused by alcohol. Dharani and Vennela have an emotional reunion.
