In Cold Comfort Farm, a young woman named Flora Poste, a recently orphaned socialite, decides to impose herself upon her relatives, the Starkadders, at the forbidding and remote Cold Comfort Farm. Determined to remedy the poor state of affairs, Flora sets out on a mission to bring all the Starkadders together and help them find happiness. Along the way, she manages to transform the lives of everyone she meets with her unconventional and modern ways.
