Chłopi (1972)

A young girl Jagna is married to an old peasant - Boryna. The marriage is a transaction, the daughter is given up for a few acres of arable land. An affair develops between Jagna and her stepson (Boryna's son), which blooms before the eyes of the village. After some time, the conflict between father and son over a woman becomes more acute. Unexpectedly, Boryna is mortally wounded and Antek is arrested. Hank's daughter-in-law takes care of the property. Until now, a clumsy and phlegmatic woman, becomes the driving force of the farm.
