Cat People (1942)

Cat People tells the story of a young Serbian-born woman named Irena Dubrovna who believes that she is a descendant of a race of people who can turn into cats when aroused. When she meets and falls in love with an American man named Oliver Reed, she struggles with her fears of intimacy and the realization that she may harm him if they consummate their marriage. As their relationship becomes more complicated, Irena's jealousy and supernatural abilities start to take a toll on both her and Oliver's lives. The film explores themes of sexuality, identity, and fear of intimacy.
