After serving a fourteen-year sentence, a convicted rapist named Max Cady is released from prison. He seeks revenge on the lawyer, Sam Bowden, who didn't defend him properly. Max begins stalking and harassing Sam's family, causing them to fear for their safety. Sam tries to confront and trap Max, but Max is always one step ahead. As the tension escalates, Sam must find a way to protect his family and himself from the vengeful and dangerous Max Cady.
