In Café Lumière, a young woman named Yoko lives in Tokyo and spends her days visiting cafes, recording sounds with her tape recorder, and having small talk with people she meets. She is navigating through her urban life while dealing with her family relationships, including her single mother who is visiting her. Yoko is also pregnant and is in the process of creating a picture book as a self-portrait. Throughout the movie, we get glimpses of Yoko's childhood memories and her love for books. Café Lumière is a heartfelt exploration of life in Tokyo and the various relationships that shape us.
