Cabaret is a 1993 musical film based on the stage musical of the same name, which in turn was based on Christopher Isherwood's 1939 novella 'Goodbye to Berlin'. The film takes place in 1931 Berlin, where an American cabaret singer and an English academic find themselves drawn into the wild and unpredictable world of the Kit Kat Klub, a seedy nightclub presided over by the enigmatic Master of Ceremonies.
