In Newcastle in 1988, Jean, a closeted PE teacher, struggles to balance her double life. When a new student named Lois arrives at school and befriends Jean's girlfriend and friendship group, Jean is forced to confront the possibility of being outed and the risks it poses to her job. As tensions rise, Jean makes questionable choices, including betraying Lois, which further complicates her relationships with Viv and her students. Ultimately, Jean must decide whether to continue hiding or embrace her true self. Set against the backdrop of homophobia in 1980s England, Blue Jean is a psychological drama that explores the themes of secrecy, bigotry, and self-acceptance.
