Thirty years on from the release of the film version of `The Commitments’ in 1991, actor Colm Meaney celebrates the world of Barrytown, a fictional working-class Dublin suburb that served a microcosm of Ireland at the time. Meaney, who appeared in the whole trilogy, explores the inspiration for Barrytown and reflects on how it depicted family, aspiration, community, and Ireland at a moment of change.
