In 1936, a money runner carrying $11,000 is conned by three men. The mobster who was supposed to receive the money seeks revenge and one of the con men is killed. In Chicago, the partner of the deceased seeks help from an old friend to get revenge on the mobster and swindle him out of a large sum of money. They plan an elaborate con that involves cheating at a poker game and tricking the mobster into placing a large bet on a fixed horse race.
