He is assigned the District 12 female tribute, Lucy Gray Baird, and aims to win the viewers' hearts. As he bonds with Lucy Gray, a rebel bomb explodes, leading to chaos and death. Coriolanus realizes that genetically modified snakes will be unleashed, and cleverly uses Lucy Gray's scent to save her. However, he is punished for cheating and forced to join the Peacekeepers. In District 12, he reencounters Lucy Gray and discovers a rebellion plot. Coriolanus's actions result in the death of rebels and his desire to escape with Lucy Gray.

In District 13, Katniss Everdeen prepares to be the Mockingjay, the symbol of the rebellion against the Capitol. With the help of her friends, she must save Peeta and lead the fight against the oppressive regime in a post-apocalyptic future.
