Reluctantly designated as the heir to the land of Far, Far Away, Shrek hatches a plan to install the rebellious Artie as the new king while Princess Fiona tries to fend off a coup d'état by the jilted Prince Charming. Shrek and his friends set out to retrieve Artie, who is initially reluctant but eventually agrees to take on the role of king. Along the way, they encounter various obstacles and villains, finally culminating in a showdown with Charming. With the help of Artie's speech, the villains agree to change their ways, and Artie is crowned king. Shrek and Fiona return to their swamp, where they become parents to ogre triplets with the support of their friends.

Shrek and Fiona travel to the Kingdom of Far Far Away to celebrate their marriage. However, they face challenges when Fiona's parents are not as welcoming as they expected. They must navigate through family drama and the interference of the Fairy Godmother and Prince Charming to save their relationship and find true happiness.
