Gadar: Ek Prem Katha is a story of love and sacrifice set against the backdrop of India's partition. It follows the journey of Tara Singh, a Sikh man, and Sakina, a Muslim woman, who fall in love and face numerous challenges due to religious intolerance and political unrest. Their love and patriotism are tested as they fight for their survival and try to reunite with their loved ones.

In Gadar 2, Tara Singh goes missing during a skirmish and is believed to be captured in Pakistan. His son Jeete embarks on a mission to rescue him, facing various obstacles along the way. The story takes place during the Indo-Pakistan war of 1971, where Tara Singh must protect the honor of his country and family. They enter a dangerous labyrinth from which they must escape at all costs.
